Bryan has spent the past 14 years designing print, branding and interactive solutions for clients such as Cobra-PUMA Golf, Nikon, Scholastic, Colgate-Palmolive, PBS and The Cleveland International Airport (just to name a few). He came to us from Sevnthsin, where he was Senior Designer for accounts including Bon Iver, HealthPartners and American Public Media. We’re psyched to have him on board. He doesn’t know it yet, but we’re already arguing over who gets the first ride in his kickass scooter’s sidecar.

Where do you find inspiration?
I tend to observe more than I engage so I think I am cataloging a lot of information in that process that inspires my work and life. Based on that observation, I find inspiration on the bus, my scooter, at home, in music, in people and in food.

Most interesting Minneapolis observation:
At stoplights, drivers leave full car lengths between themselves and the car in front of them. I can’t comprehend that.

What is your dream project?
Solving something hugely complex and necessary. Have you ever tried to decipher medical bills and how they correlate to your insurance? Let me fix that.

I’m addicted to:
Tacos, tacos and tacos.

If I wasn’t a designer I would have liked to be:
I have told everyone I know that this is the greatest field to be in—it is truly limitless, constantly challenging and always rewarding. If I weren’t designing in this medium I would ultimately be designing in some other medium. Designing food? Designing buildings? Designing aprons for taxidermied squirrels, etc…something like that.

Your favorite musician?
A toss up between Bob Dylan and Fugazi.

Which living person do you most admire?
My wife. I don’t know anyone better and she is a constant source of inspiration for me.

She grew up on a dairy farm west of Minneapolis, and studied at the University of Minnesota Duluth. A three-week trip to Italy senior year ignited a major love affair with Europe. She’s been back twice since — her last trip was a 10 country, 2 month excursion (which may explain the je ne sais quoi quality about her). When she’s not vying to hop the Atlantic, she is likely obsessing over typefaces and choosing the perfect pantone color combinations. She can’t even walk through the cheese section at the supermarket without picking up packages and commenting on the design.

Being kind, generous, and (hopefully someday) contributing something back to the world

Next up, some bopping around occurred: college in San Francisco, then an attempt at being “an artist”, then a tattoo artist, then a muralist, then a move to Minneapolis with his ladylove, CarrieAnn, then almost Barcelona, then more college (Minneapolis College of Art & Design for Comic Art), and now we have him. This year’s biggest change was the two music stages, back to back on the bridge over the Midtown Greenway, one facing north and one facing south, alternating sets every 45 minutes.

We are sincerely honored to now be part of Massive Press with our WerkPress solution. What an amazing idea, “accomplish so much more together, then we can apart…” and this is exactly the process we took while at Massive Camp. The two days we got together for the camp were not only a wonderful learning experience in WordPress and how others are utilizing the platform and all of it’s possibilities; but it was about collaborating to build something really neat (although we can’t reveal what that is right now, you will soon find out). It was a great WordCamp and a great time! Thanks to our friends who attended and made it an awesome get-together.

That’s exactly what Joe did! His hammocking revolution gave birth to his company Yellow Leaf Hammocks. It also gave birth to a wonderful new relationship with Westwerk. We sat down with Joe and discovered his goals, brainstormed how to meet these goals and ultimately gave birth to a visually rich and inviting WordPress-based e-Commerce site where Joe and company could continue to build their business.
